ALTERED LANDSCAPE _II PART ONE
PERMUTATIONS AND COMPOSITIONS OF SHADOW, LIGHT AND SULPHUR 2026

ALTERED LANDSCAPE II_ DEVELOPS THROUGH THE PERMUTATION OF THREE MONOCHROME POLAROID REPEATED WITHIN A THREE BY THREE GRID OF NINE POLAROID. THESE HUNDRED AND TWENTY PERMUTATIONS (OUT OF FIVE HUNDRED FOUR POSSIBILITIES) ARE THEN ARRANGED TO FORM A COMPOSITION IN A TEN BY TWELVE GRID FOR A TOTAL OF ONE THOUSAND AND EIGHTY POLAROIDS. THE WORK AIMS TO CONSTRUCT A VISUAL FIELD WITHOUT REFERENCE POINTS. THE SETS OF POLAROIDS ARE ASSEMBLED ACCORDING TO SIMPLE RULES, PRODUCING COMPOSITIONS THAT DIFFER IN THEIR INTERNAL DISTRIBUTION. EACH REARRANGEMENT ERASES THE PREVIOUS STATE, EACH COMPOSITION IS A TEMPORARY IDENTITY. IN ALTERED LANDSCAPE II_ STRUCTURE PRODUCES INTERFERENCE. ORDER GENERATES DISPERSION. THE WORK OSCILLATES BETWEEN COHERENCE AND DISORIENTATION. PERMUTATION AND COMBINATION BECOME TWO OPPOSING YET INTERDEPENDENT LANGUAGES: ONE SYSTEMATIC, MEASURABLE, RATIONAL; THE OTHER UNSTABLE, PERCEPTUAL. WHAT IS PRESENTED IS ONE POSSIBLE ARTICULATION AMONG MANY. OTHER COMPOSITIONS REMAIN LATENT, ALREADY CONTAINED WITHIN THE SAME ELEMENTS, AWAITING THEIR ARRANGEMENT.
